Real science begins with curiosity, which leads to discovery and exploration. Like adult scientists, children need opportunities to think and compare ideas with the ideas of others. Today we did just that. Mixing crystals (the chemical absorbent called sodium polyacrylate) and water, we created a physical change which resulted in three different snow-like substances. The students recorded their findings and discussed their ideas with their peers.
