Rhyme is found in poetry, songs, and many children's books and games. Recognizing words that are grouped together by a common sound develops phonological awareness, an important part of developing reading skills. To celebrate the birthday of the rhyme master Dr. Suess, we spent the week reading and completing fun activities that relate to his books and his silly rhymes. We created our own Wocket to stick in our pocket and used our rhyming skills to name them.
