I Can Read!-Morning

The book nook is a very important part of our classroom. It is where children gain the foundation for reading and writing. It is also a place where kids can relax and enjoy the wonderful world of children's books. Young children need time to read or pretend to read by themselves in order to develop an "I can do it!" attitude. Independent reading is an important part of our balanced reading program. We teach our students that there are three types of reading:
  • You can read by reading all the words.
  • You can "pretend read" by telling the story.
  • You can "picture read" by looking at the pictures in a book and talking about the things you see
What a joy it has been to see your students continue to develop a deep love for books!
