Cookie Taste Off-Kprep Morning

As a class we completed a cookie book to help us learn our friends' names. We read it aloud and giggled at our portraits. It made its way to the book nook where many of our students have read and reread it. To complete the activity, we had a cookie taste off where we organized, compared, and graphed the results. This graphing exercise provided a meaningful opportunity to represent and communicate important math relationships. Some of these relationships include equality, the concept of more/less and the associative property in addition. We had multiple conversations about what the students noticed. It gave them a chance to think about, consider and share important insights about their own mathematic ideas.
