One of the first ways we can help develop reading comprehension in our students is to provide many different experiences with a book they know and love. This week we learned about the characters, setting, and organization of the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? We loved acting out the book and transforming ourselves into the characters.
In math centers we helped our students become familiar with graphs and their purposes by providing them with an opportunity to collect and organize data. With the information displayed on a graph, the visual arrangement made the information more easily accessible to our students. The addition of M&Ms and our new favorite book made it just plain fun!
