Alphabet Sensory Bin-Morning

Sensory play is simply play that encourages children to use one or more of the senses. Sensory play experiences focus on stimulating children's senses of sight, sound, smell, touch, taste, balance and movement. Research tells us that young children rely on sensory input to learn about their environment. It helps build thought, learning, and creativity. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, gross motor skills, problem solving and social interaction.

Our sensory activity challenged students to search through the materials to find uppercase and lowercase alphabet letters. After identifying the letter and the sound, students worked together to place the letters in alphabetical order. This activity allowed students to experiment with literacy, math, science and art.
